Keeble Antiques Specialist Books Web Site - www.keebleantbks.co.uk ***This business will only offer goods on line where it holds actual physical stock.*** On Friday morning November 4th 2005, local author Roger Evans was here signing copies of his Somerset dialect book "Don't Tell I, Tell 'EE" (Countryside Books, £6.99). The signing session was a great success with customers travelling from some distance to obtain copies. A special word of thanks to Roger for making himself available on the morning of this year's Bridgwater Carnival, of which he is a keen supporter. Keeble is pleased to stock the following 'old favourites' also written by Roger Evans - "Blame it on the Cider" (now reprinted), "Somerset Stories of the Supernatural", "Somerset Tales of Mystery and Murder" , "Somerset Forgotten Heroes"and "Somerset Teashop Walks" + + + Friday morning, 4th May 2007, between 10.30am and 12.30pm, sees the return of Roger Evans ; this time to sign copies of his latest book "Adventurous Pub Walks in Somerset" ( Countryside Books, £7.99 ) . Roger will be accompanied by Buster, his border collie dog, who has completed the circular walks featured in the book ; each walk extends to between 7 and 11 miles. Roger Evans will of course at the same time be signing copies of his other popular in-print titles. + + + Due to unforeseen circumstances the June 2nd booksigning and talk which was due to be given by Imran Ahmad, here in Langport, has been cancelled. I would strongly recommend viewing the following BBC article (20-4-07) , together with the reader comments ; oh, and Imran also blogs. + + + On Friday November 25th Pam Lewis the noted gardener and conservationist was here in Cheapside, Langport, signing copies of her new book "Sticky Wicket : gardening in tune with nature" (Frances Lincoln 2005) Sticky Wicket garden, at Buckland Newton Dorset, has been transformed into a special nature paradise. Pam, assisted by her late husband Peter, has created a peaceful and tranquil environment which is a colourful, well organised, wildlife haven Pam Lewis, and her garden, have featured in many books, magazines as well as TV and radio programmes. Keeble Antiques were delighted that Pam Lewis was able to make this book signing, especially on a date a month away from Christmas, and even more so since the previous day "Sticky Wicket" had been voted the "Enthusiasts' Book of the Year 2005" by The British Garden Writers' Guild. A limited number of signed copies of both books are still available from Keeble Antiques + + + Copies of "Somerton, Ilchester, and Langport in old photographs" collected by Gerald Gosling and Frank Huddy, originally published in 1993 by Alan Sutton Publishing have now arrived at Cheapside. This 2006 reprint is exclusive to Keeble and priced at £12.99 - there has already been substantial interest from "locals" : Curry Rivel, Aller, Hambridge, Huish and Kingsbury Episcopi, Keinton Mandeville and the Charltons also feature (160pp and approx 300 b/w archive photos, mostly half-page). Further details on this website's New Books pages. + + + On Friday June 9th 2006, author Derrick Warren was here in Cheapside Langport to sign copies of his recent book "Curious Somerset", published by Sutton Publishing at £12.99. A total of 105 remarkable and less well-known features of Somerset - curious and unusual buildings, objects and landscape features - are detailed within, with photograph (both new and archive) as well as map and location details. Derrick Warren spent his working life with Ordnance Survey, that combined with his interest in industrial archaeology and local history has helped to ensure that "Curious Somerset" is a very welcome addition to the local bookcases. + + + In order to highlight the manner in which South Somerset District Council are endangering the viability of Langport businesses, as well
as upsetting their residents a campaign has been launched Telephone/Fax : +44 (0)1458 259627 Please read our current Cookies and Privacy Policy last site update 0030 Pacific Time 6th March 2008 |
